1. True History of Iai-do (Hidden Truth)                         yEnglishz
y4zAbout the fall of Hayashi clan, and also about SHIMOMURA collateral sect.
@
@The fall originated from the succession issue of 14th Tokugawa Shogunate. The HITOTSUBASHI group members, MITO Nariaki, SHIMAZU Nariakira, MATSUDAIRA, HITOTSUBASHI Keiki, YAMAUCHI Youdo, etc. were ordered probation. The leader of the opposition group was II Naosuke who was in the position of Great Elder. The Ansei Purge was beginning. During this time, Yamauchi Youdo, the 15th lord of Tosa clan, trying to save his clan, immediately had his elder official YOSHIDA Toyo call senior members stationed in Edo over to Tosa, and expelled them or cut salary.  Hayashi clan was stationed in Edo at that time and thus influenced by this.

This elder official Yoshida ran around to reform the Tosa domain and for that reason, he even turned against the conservative Yamauchi original house members. He knew nothing about chief chef Hayashi clanfs specialty, Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu and Ise school of Etiquettes. He just concentrated on eliminating conservative group. So, he cut salary from Hayashi clan, from 180 Koku to 55 Koku.

The 15th lord of Tosa, Yamauchi Yodo was not the legitimate heir at the original house. 13th and 14th lord had passed away when they were young and the 12th lord was still alive at that time. This very lord and TAKECHI Zuizan, Tosa pro-Imperialist were contacting behind.

Now, Ifd like to pay attention to Yoshida Toyo who was assassinated. He wandered here and there with his father and settled in Tosa where his father had grown up. With Toyofs academic nature, he opened his own school in Tosa, teaching sons of samurais. Later on, he served for Tosa clan. His ancestor served for CHOSOKABE clan who had been eliminated by TOYOTOMI Hideyoshi. Therefore, Yoshida family left Tosa, refusing to serve the intruding new lord, Yamauchi.

Yoshida tried to calm the conflict between upper samurai (who came with Yamauchi clan to Tosa) and lower samurai (who had served for Chosokabe before Yamauchi came.) For this purpose, Yoshida decided to establish a new domain school called Chido-kan. There were harsh rules for lower samurais, such as prohibition to wear Geta in rainy days, or use umbrella under summer heat. Completely alone, Yoshida was tossed around by SHIMOMURAfs bluffs and nominated him as the instructor of Iai. Yoshida hired Shimomura as his bodyguard. When Yoshida was assassinated, those three bodyguards just fled away. It was because they only knew techniques in the beginnerfs rank. Yoshida knew nothing about Iai. He was sort of patronage of the collateral sect, and was killed the night of his new school opening day. It seems like the legitimate mastersf curses. During Meiji era, collateral sect Shimomurafs apprentice, OE apprenticed to the legitimate 16th headmaster, GOTO Magobei. This way, Oe succeeded the valuable Iai. He for the first time was exposed to the intermediate and advanced level techniques in Showa when there is no need of sword –fighting art. To this truth, collateral sect felt uneasy, and thus tried to hide the forged Hayashi genealogy and existence of Jyohachi. They just brainwashed there were Tanimura group and Shimomura groups. People will not be impressed by this truth.
